Yoga Basics for Athletes: A 5-Week Spring Series with Gwen Vernon

Intrigued by yoga, but don't know where to start? Are you an athlete who wants to extend the expiration of your joints and maximize your health? Maybe you've been advised by a physician to add mobility, flexibility, and strength work to your training. These are all great reasons to join this offering this spring!

This 5-class series is designed for athletes, those brand new to yoga, and seasoned yogis interested in re-learning the key poses and principles of yoga in a non-competitive environment.

You will learn:

  • time-tested and scientifically proven methods for increasing strength and flexibility physically and mentally;

  • fundamental yoga poses and how to support and sustain them in a way that honors your body;

  • breathing techniques to gain control of your energy and influence your health and wellbeing;

  • principles of yoga that give insight for how to live with more satisfaction and less suffering.

Each class will introduce a new theme and progressively build on the previous one, preparing you with a fundamental understanding and the confidence to complement your athletic activity with yoga classes or consistent home yoga practice. 

Dates: Tuesday evenings 5:30-6:45pm, May 7–June 4, 2024 @ Motive Yoga Studio

Yoga is a discipline, but we don’t believe that it should be intimidating to begin a practice nor burdensome to sustain. Under Gwen’s instruction you will learn to create a consistent practice that fits your needs. 

Payment

  • Members $75 for all 5 classes

  • Non-members $90 for all 5 classes
