Bree Dillon | Founder

I'm a yogi, athlete, anatomy geek and an unapologetic problem-solver. With 15 combined years of teaching and practice I've come to trust yoga as a potent and timeless solution to keep me sturdy, body and mind. Teaching challenges me to listen to, recognize and respond to my students differences. Motive was born out of my love for teaching to these differences. Yoga with me makes sense in your body based on how it is designed and challenges your physical and mental limitations so you can experience the freedom you desire.

I am a yoga teacher and strength coach who specializes in injury recovery and the practice of play. My mantra — Move intelligently, practically and playfully. There are few things I enjoy more than helping students understand what is happening under their own skin, create better movement habits and ultimately have more fun in their body.

I have been teaching yoga for over 10 years and love how much the practice has been a constant in my life. My classes merge a great physical practice with fun energy and a deep understanding of the body. My hope is to help my students practice in an approachable way in a nonjudgemental environment. I love that yoga is able to help not only my students but also me find a deeper appreciation for the body, and how many possibilities there are to connect with it. When I'm not in the studio I can be found in the mountains trail running, biking, eating pizza and traveling.

I see yoga as a powerful tool to calm the body and mind, which can provide clarity and reduce stress— something that is often needed in today’s fast paced world. I'm trained in a flowing, devotional, and classical form of Hatha yoga, with additional training in Restorative yoga and mindfulness. I believe in the inherent strengths and skills in all students, and appreciate the uniqueness of every ability, body, and culture. My teaching style is grounding, and supports students to move mindfully between the push and pull of life by honoring themselves and
deepening the connection to their inner voice. My personal practice consists of Ashtanga, Yin, and Restorative yoga; including meditation. In addition to teaching yoga and mindfulness, I am an applied researcher, clinician, and rock climber.

My yoga practice began in 2004 as a way to deal with stress while studying Human Development at East Tennessee State University. It has since become a way of life for me. After much contemplation and some gentle coaxing from my teachers I decided I was ready for teacher training and a 200-hour teacher training at Asheville Yoga Center in February 2015. I have a special love for yin and restorative yoga practices. I have continued my education with additional training in Restorative Yoga with Kimberly Puryear of Asheville Yoga and Hands-on Adjusting with Marti Yura of Vista Yoga in Atlanta,Ga. When not doing yoga I can be found with her two dogs and husband. Together we love to cook and travel the world. I have been inspired by all types of movement since I was young. Participating in dance, sports, gymnastics, and cross-training, I found the physicality of movement to be the most fun and exciting way to engage body and soul. Then I found yoga in 2008, in a mixed martial arts gym of all places. As a yoga instructor, I am thrilled to offer my training in Vinyasa and Yin to mentally and physically empower students. I love connecting with each student and tailoring my instructions to fit the students' needs. My classes offer a strong eastern foundation with my own personal lightness and humor, creating a practice that is accessible and fun. I also believe in yoga’s medicinal qualities and use my Forrest Yoga training to facilitate healing through asana and observation of the natural world.
